The National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC) is a directly affiliated institution of the National Medical Products Administration. It is the national legal institution for inspecting the quality of pharmaceuticals and biological products, and the highest technical arbitration body. It is also designated by the World Health Organization as a "WHO Collaborating Center for Quality Assurance of Pharmaceuticals." It is responsible for approval, registration, and inspection of pharmaceuticals, biological products, medical devices, food, health food, cosmetics, laboratory animals, and packaging materials, as well as safety evaluation and batch release of biological products. It also manages national standards for pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and conducts related technical research.
