Korea | If a product was initially labeled with a 24-Month shelf life, but it is later decided to extend it to 30 months based on storage conditions and product characteristics, is It permissible to modify the originallabel and continue sales?

A

According to the Cosmetic Act, the shelf life must be determined based on scientific evidence and stability testing. If a product has already been labeled with a 24-month shelf life, unilaterally modifying the label to indicate 30 months without undergoing the proper legal procedures constitutes falsification or alteration of labeling.

Such conduct is a violation under Article 15, Subparagraph 9 of the Cosmetic Act. Therefore, it is prohibited to arbitrarily change the labeled shelf life once the product has been released with the original indication.
