U.S. Persistent Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) Chemicals under TSCA Section 6(h)

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has officially issued a list of persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic (PBT) chemicals under Section 6(h) of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), imposing usage restrictions on five high-risk substances. The list includes Bis(pentabromophenyl) ether (DecaBDE), Phenol, isopropylated, phosphate (3:1) (PIP (3:1)), pentachlorothiophenol (PCTP), hexachlorobutadiene (HCBD), and 2,4,6-tris(tert-butyl)phenol (2,4,6-TTBP). Under the regulatory requirements, businesses must phase out these chemicals, which are widely present in consumer products and industrial processes, to mitigate their long-term risks to public health and the ecological environment.
