The Health and Welfare Department of the Taiwan Region (China) (abbreviated as the Health and Welfare Department) is the highest authority responsible for public health, medical care, and social welfare affairs in the Taiwan region. It also oversees the local health bureaus (offices) and social affairs bureaus (offices) of counties and cities. Its predecessor was the "Department of Health of the Executive Yuan," established in 1971, which was upgraded to a ministry-level unit in 2013 and renamed to its current title.
