Main Content:
This law serves as the primary legislation for mandatory halal certification in Indonesia. It stipulates that goods and related services including food, beverages, medicines, cosmetics and chemical products imported, distributed and traded in Indonesia shall in principle obtain halal certification. It establishes BPJPH to administer the halal certification system, with MUI responsible for halal determination, and defines rules for Halal Product Process (PPH) control, labelling, certificate administration, supervision and penalties. Law No.6 of 2023 (Job Creation Law) amended this Act to streamline certification procedures, refine phased implementation and authorize government regulations to set transition deadlines for different product categories.
