To help stakeholders stay informed of the latest developments and gain insights into market trends, this article provides a systematic review and in-depth analysis of the cosmetic ingredient filings published by China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in February 2026. The report mainly covers the number of new ingredient filings during the month, basic information about the filing enterprises, the regional distribution of domestic filers, ingredients that have been filed multiple times, and interpretations of selected ingredients. It aims to offer valuable data support and information references for the cosmetics industry.
I. Number of New Cosmetic Ingredient Filings in China-December 2025
According to data from the NMPA, a total of 17 new cosmetic ingredients were filed. As of now, the relevant technical specifications for these ingredients have not yet been disclosed, and none of them have entered the post-filing monitoring period. II. Overview of Enterprises Filing for New Cosmetic Ingredients
In February 2026, 17 new cosmetic ingredients were all filed by 15 domestic companies. Among them, Shanghai Keqin Technology Co., Ltd. and Hangzhou Ruiju Medical Technology Co., Ltd. each registered 2 new ingredients. The remaining companies each registered 1 ingredient.
III. Distribution of Domestic Enterprises Filing for New Cosmetic Ingredients by Province
According to the analysis of new ingredient filing data, a total of 17 new cosmetic ingredients were filed by domestic enterprises in China, involving 15 companies across 7 provincial-level regions. The provinces and regions include Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shandong, Shanxi, Anhui and Yunnan.
As shown in Figure 1, among all domestic provinces and regions where the filing companies are located, Shanghai recorded the highest number of new cosmetic ingredient filings, with five, accounting for 29.4% of the total filings in February 2026.

IV. Frequently Filed New Cosmetic Ingredients
According to the statistics, among the 17 newly registered cosmetic ingredients mentioned above, Dendrobium huoshanense stem extract and dihydromyricetin have been registered twice at different times by different registrant companies.
V. Interpretation of Selected Ingredients
According to available information, Haloxylon ammodendron, commonly known as camelthorn, is a semi-shrub herbaceous plant belonging to the Fabaceae family and the Haloxylon genus. It is primarily distributed in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, and Xinjiang in China, with additional occurrences in parts of Central Asia. According to the Materia Medica of Inner Mongolia, the medicinal parts of camelthorn include the sugary exudates from its leaves, as well as its flowers and seeds. It is characterized by a sweet and sour taste and warm properties, and is traditionally used to astringe the intestines, relieve diarrhea, and alleviate pain.
Mannosylerythritol lipids (MELs) are a type of biosurfactant known for their biodegradability, low toxicity, and excellent biocompatibility. These properties make MELs highly valuable in a wide range of applications, including medicine, personal care products, food processing, agriculture, and environmental remediation.
Andrias davidianus, commonly known as the Chinese giant salamander or "wa wa yu" (baby fish), is mainly found in mountainous streams of the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze, Yellow, and Pearl Rivers. Studies have shown that oil extracted from A. davidianus is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, with an optimal ω-6 to ω-3 ratio. It possesses excellent nutritional value, antioxidant properties, and potential benefits for skin care.
Rhodiola crenulata, a perennial herbaceous plant of the Crassulaceae family and Rhodiola genus, is primarily distributed in Tibet, northwestern Yunnan, and western Sichuan in China. It is also found in Nepal, India, and Bhutan. Wild R. crenulata is currently listed as a Class II nationally protected plant species in China. Its main pharmacologically active constituents are salidroside and tyrosol, which have been shown to enhance immunity, lower blood glucose, and reduce blood lipid levels.
Huoshan Dendrobium (Dendrobium huoshanense) is a perennial herbaceous plant in the Orchidaceae family, also known as Mi Hu and Longtou Fengwei Cao. It is native to Huoshan County in the Dabie Mountains of Anhui Province and is mainly distributed in Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hubei, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang. The stems of Huoshan Dendrobium can be used medicinally, with a sweet and slightly cold nature, offering benefits such as nourishing the stomach, generating fluids, nourishing yin, and clearing heat. It is suitable for symptoms like heat-induced fluid loss and thirst. It is a first-class protected plant in China and a unique species, assessed as a critically endangered population in the "China Species Red List."
Camellia oleifera, commonly known as tea oil camellia, is a plant in the Theaceae family. The seeds are rich in fats, and the extracted tea oil is clear, fragrant, and nutritious.
